Polaris SLX: Guided Missile
The Polaris SLX boasts smoldering graphics that match its sizzling performance
July 23, 2001

With a 135-horsepower engine and excellent handling, the Polaris SLX delivers exhilarating performance.
Touring on a three- or four-person personal watercraft makes for great adventure, but there's also something to be said for the pure enjoyment of tearing up the water on a spirited two-up. Polaris has four models, from the wicked Pro 785 to the mellow SLH, for such occasions, and right in the middle of them is the SLX.
Rated at 135 horsepower, the SLX delivers instant punch and carves crisp, clean turns. Lending a bit more attitude to the watercraft's performance is a new-for-2001, black-with-yellow-and-red graphics package.
Powering the SLX is the same Polaris Marine 1200 engine used in the Genesis, Virage TX and Pro 1200 models. Standard features include multi-function instrumentation and reversible throttle for index finger or thumb operation. Hydro-Turf footwell pads, also standard, provide added stability for riders while standing or sitting. Options include a carbon-fiber hood, a custom cover, a theft-deterrent system and mirrors.
The 550-pound watercraft can accommodate two riders with a combined weight of up 370 pounds. Total rated capacity is 400 pounds. Fuel capacity is 12-1/2 gallons.
Suggested retail price is $7,779.
